Needing a little encouragement this morning?

14 Nov

I was driving in my car this morning and Britt Nicole’s song “The Sun is Rising” came on. That song is so encouraging and I played it over and over! I mean just read the chorus:

Whatever you’re facing
If your heart is breaking
There’s a promise for the ones who just hold on
Lift up your eyes and see
The sun is rising

Listen to it 🙂

Devotion 11/13/12

14 Nov

As I was reading my devotion today, I was reminded of a few things:

1. The hits (pain) just keep coming and you have a choice to make. You can either embrace the pain and brokenness in your life and learn from it or you can surrender to the darkness and hide and hope it all goes away. *** I would rather embrace the pain or brokenness and learn from it. About a month ago I was going through a tough time and I embraced the brokenness and I have never felt so close to God. Embrace the pain/brokenness in your life. Learn from it. You will be so much stronger. I guarantee it! Pray without ceasing and pray about everything! One of my favorite verses: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

2. God has gone before us and buried a treasure in every problem and stored rich truths in every minute of darkness (hard times) we will face.
-The only way we can discover that treasure is to embrace the problem as an opportunity to trust God.
-Some things cannot be learned in the light, they are treasures of the darkness.

I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. Isaiah 45:3

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Psalm 40:1-3

I hope this is as comforting for you as it was for me!

The Good Life

So true 🙂 Let this be a reminder of how blessed we are. Take time and thank God for everything you’re thankful for.

Learning new things.

I am currently learning how to play the ukulele. I’ve always wanted to learn! My best friend and I are taking lessons and so far we can both play Somewhere Over the Rainbow 🙂 Next I want to learn how to play the guitar.

Food for Thought

Have you prayed about it as much as you’ve talked about it?

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. Matthew 21:22

Thankful

7 Nov

Today, I am thankful that neither Obama or Romney has the answer. ONLY God. Scripture says to pray for our leaders and that is exactly what we should do. Pray for our President. Pray for our Nation.

God is still on the throne. He still reigns, He still pours out blessings upon his children, He still offers everlasting life through His son, and He still loves a sinner like me! Isn’t it great to know who’s REALLY in control?

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
